Dressler Smith

Meet Dressler Smith!

Dressler Smith is a painter, author, and pastel colorist who favors tranquil in a way which invokes both awe and reverence, and is designed to touch the human spirit. Her book, the Inspirational Journey of Dressler Smith, was released in late 2014.

Ms. Smith's many honors and awards include the Applause Award from the Markheim Art Center in Haddonfield, NJ, the Candace Award from the Coalition of 100 Black Women, the Chisholm Award from the Philadelphia Congress of the National Political Congress of Black Women, and feature publication in the May 2001 issue of Essence Magazine.

Of particular note, high profile celebrities, Oprah Winfrey, Randall Cunningham, former NFL quarterback, and Coretta Scott King are among those who have private acquisition art pieces by Dressler Smith. As a child, Dressler attended classes at the Philadelphia Museum of Art which fostered Smith's love of art. When she moved to suburban South Jersey, Smith found the inspiration for her own work in the nature surrounding her house in Morrisville-Delair, New Jersey. Smith's mother was a church pianist, and so, she was also raised singing gospel hymns.

Smith, whose chosen mediums are oil paint and stained glass, studied at Moore College of Art. She has taught art classes at Camden County College as an adjunct professor for more than 20 years. Smith is a nationally acclaimed American artist whose unique works on paper and stained glass touch the human spirit. She uses vibrant color pastels to capture morning skies, tranquil landscapes, and universal themes with exceptionally gifted artistic skill and aesthetic.
